What are the advantages of Sim only deals?

With a Sim-only deal, network operators or retailers don't subsidise the cost of a handset. Generally, this means you'll get cheaper calls, text and internet services, and a cheaper bundle. One major downside to buying a Sim-only deal is that you'll have to provide your own phone. Even if you already own a phone, you may have to pay to get it unlocked if you want to switch your network operator.

When can I switch to a Sim only deals?

First, check whether you are still under contract with your current provider. When you have reached the end of your contract you are free to switch suppliers and the phone is usually yours. If you're unsure, it's worth checking your contract documents or simply contacting your current provider to find out. If you are still in contract you can still switch but there are likely to be termination charges.

Once you have selected your new SIM only deal you will need to get in touch with your current network to cancel your contract.
